Four Feet One Mind
Jonathan a mid-50-year-old tall bulky guy with long hair and a face covered with a beard was a soft and warm-hearted person. He had a small business of balloons cart, kids who used to come to enjoy the sea and the beach would buy his colorful balloons. His everyday habit of walking down the beach kept his mind at ease. Jonathan without missing a single day had his walks at the beach exactly at 6 in the evening. His house near the beach was the only beautiful thing that kept the beach alive. Wooden house with a rusty steel gate and a wooden door having a nameplate saying "Mr. & Mrs. Bakers". The house from inside was as beautiful as it from outside, with a cozy dining table enough space for two seating and a black leather couch to keep himself cool from the warm moist temperature of the beach. A cute little bedroom having a window that allowed him to stare at the calm and peaceful sea waves at night. Even after having a beautiful house near the beach and a small business perfect for his simple lifestyle was not enough for his happiness. He needed his wife Beckie, her death has been haunting him for the past 1 and a half years since she passed away with a disease. Beckie's love and hobby of walking made Jhonathan walk every single day with her at 6 in the evening. He remembered asking her "Really? walking is what gives you pleasure? Look around us we are at the beach, we are where we always dreamed of having a cute place to live. We could swim or have a beach dinner but you choose to drag me to walk over sand?" Beckie covered her mouth with her hand as she laughed at her husband's sarcasm. She said it's not only the walk J, but It's also about thinking and being with the person you love at the right place. Jonathan said, "Okay, let's say it's all those things that you just said... but why every day?"
Suddenly there was a knock on his door, "who must be here in the evening?" He never had any guest over because he was an introvert type fella keeping emotional attachments to only certain people. He went for the door at found out a crying kid pointing towards the sea where Jhonathan saw a girl drowning by going far in the sea. Jonathan started running towards the sea without the need to let the kid explain, this was no new for him as this happens all the time. Someone tries to go far in the sea and loses control over the waves. He had good swimming skills which helped him bring her out in no time. The moment the girl seemed fine Jhonathan yelled at her with his deep voice. He said "Is having fun so difficult by staying safe? You kids need to be careful around here" Yes he was not good at the yelling, he never really had the hand over his words. His words could never hurt anyone. Despite of his huge physical appearance, his ethics and manners were way gentle than his looks.
He went home to change clothes he felt weak maybe because of sudden physical work he had to do. He glanced over the clock, his knees felt weak and his eyes got wet when he found out he missed the walk for the first time after backie. Not a single day went over without having his walk. But now he missed it. He was sad and upset with a little rage over those kids who distracted him. But a little part of him knew he did what was right.
He was seating near the sea looking at the waves feeling awful. He then again started recalling the conversation he had with Beckie when he asked her why she loves walking. He asked, "But why every day?" Beckie took Jhonathan's big hand and locked them with her soft and small hand.
She said I do what makes me happy remember? You forcing me for coming to the gym? She chuckled "I love walking because I know you enjoy it with me." Jonathan denied and said "No I don't" Beckie glanced over him and said "Things only matter when we both enjoy them J.....I want you happy" tears dropped from her eyes and she hugged Jhonathan tightly. They both knew she has to go someday. Jonathan had a difficult time having a good sense of humor but still, he tried always to make his girl at least smile and said "So this is it? you gonna cry about a walk?" Beckie forced a laugh out of her. He said, "Did you just fake laughed at me?" Beckie "No! It was funny, I mean it"
Jonathan "oh really, then what was that weird laugh about?"
Jonathan who was smiling staring at the sea realized he enjoyed thinking about the good memories with Beckie more than walking on the beach every day without her. He kept smiling at the sea remembering her.
