Bal Hanuman 1 Movie Review

Bal Hanuman

The movie starts with a narration saying we all know our mighty Hanuman's heroic events in the Ramayana, but we don't know how he was when he was young. And that is what the movie shows us.

It's a great movie for kids with an appreciative attempt at 3d animation. The movie was released in 2007 and was a major hit among children. This movie is great for both kids and parents. What makes this a great Hanuman film is that he is very young, unlike his usual form in mythology.

We see funny and adventurous moments of Hanuman saving his friend and fighting monsters while being brave and mighty. Also, the creators have added few songs between the scene which are a short musical recap of the movie. These songs contain English phrases in the lyrics which I assume were put in for more relatability, but I would have appreciated the songs more if they had kept the lyrics stick to Hindi. Later on in the story, we see Hanuman goes to eat the sun and after Indra dev in an attempt to stop, kills Hanuman with his weapon.

Knowing this Pawan dev gets furious over God Indra and stops the wind which starts to kill every animal and human on the planet. Indra dev apologizes for his doing, and Brahma dev makes Hanuman Immortal. After Hanuman's rescue, he goes to save his family and friends from monsters and demons. He saves his village with ease and shows his great true powers.

Some people might hate the animation because it lacks in textures and realism but it was a good attempt in my opinion. In this movie, Hanuman is not aware of his full potential, and if you have seen the sequel for this film "Bal Hanuman 2" you might like the first film better because it has a simple level of plot in the story. Bal Hanuman 2 is more complex and is unnecessarily filled with plots.

I think watching this movie can explain to children how sometimes even being a god can turn into making mistakes and chaos. But what is more important is they learn how you should try your best to fix those mistakes.

I liked this film a lot. It was a short 1 hr. film with great tales of Bal Hanuman. But I would like to see if they remake the film with better animation and sound quality because action scenes did not have any impact on them. Even though some scenes were beautiful to watch, for example when Hanuman tries to eat the Sun were portrayed really well. They even added Hanuman Chalisa at the end of the film. This was a good idea because children usually watch films and cartoons on repeat and by doing so they will by heart one of the greatest mantra of Hanuman. If I had to give my review I would give Bal Hanuman a solid 7 out of 10 for its good attempt at 3d animation and for keeping the story simple and straightforward.
